Frequently asked questions
Does my diet affect my chances of getting a cavity?
Yes. Regularly eating large amounts of sugary foods can raise your risk of tooth decay, especially if you do not brush and floss twice a day.
Why brush and floss? Why not just one or the other?
Brushing and flossing serve two different purposes. Both matter a lot for your oral health. Brushing is focused on cleaning the enamel, while flossing is directed more toward gum health.
Why do my gums bleed when I brush or floss?
Bleeding gums can be an early sign of gum disease, but it can also simply mean you are brushing or flossing too hard. Try a toothbrush with soft bristles, and floss more slowly.
Which toothpaste should I use?
Unless you have a condition that needs a special kind of toothpaste, most brands are fine. The important thing is that you use it regularly.
